The story of Psyche?s epic journey toward Eros and true love is a metaphor for the preservation of the postconventional life of the soul. The antihero blocking the life of the soul is everything that constitutes the mask of inauthenticity?or the surface flatland of the punitive superego and the machine. Sovereignty is the reward for a successful marriage of Psyche and Eros.

Creativity is growth or the proactive-positive approach to any question, problem, divisive gulf or moment in time. Creativity is how we span time, and spin time...and thus grow in time. As long as we remain insecure and in need of external direction and authority we abdicate our sovereign source?and in doing so lay ourselves open to abuse, distraction and dissipation from others who would use our psychic resources for their own ends. Creativity or ?love? is a way that we can tend, defend and fend for ourSelf without harm to self or other, in order that we may incarnate. Incarnation or Spiritual Growth requires psychosomatic circumstances which allow for adequate rest, recovery and regeneration. If we have to remain in hostile and defended states in order to preserve our self-system within the society we live in then the soul?s emergence is forfeited.

the responsiblity of teaching the next generation/ourselves how to think for themselves lies on the parents shoulders and our own. what's left of the educational system is all about training kids how to be good cogs in the consumer machine. teach them just enough to have the skills that are currently lacking in the military/industrial/media complex that we call democracy.  distract them with all forms of entertainment and desire so they won't be curious and be good little robots.

ARCHETYPES
Kyle: I find your discussion of archetypes interesting and was surprised to note that you had included the "woman in distress" and the "lost child" among them.  I haven't thought to think of these as archetypes.  Would you care to explain the former to me a bit, and under what circumstances one may find this one?  Also what do you suppose the purpose is for having these archetypes in the collective unconscious (if any)?

   Also, refresh my memory: is the wolf in Little Red Riding Hood an archetype also, and is he more similar to the "feral man" imagery you suggested, or more of a representative of the shadow self, or both?  (The role of this character in the larger scheme of things is painfully unclear to me, and he's not the only one that fuddles my mind in this manner; I can list several others).

Although I have not studied archetypes in any serious way, they are simply patterns of human behavior related to the various drives which are passed through a filter of age, gender and the quadrants of character:

Air, Mind, Billius, Hostile strength--Eagle or Man
Fire, Spirit, Sanguinary, Friendly strength--Lion or Serpent (Hindu)
Earth, Body, Choleric, Hostile weakness--Ox
Water, Emotions, Phlegmatic, Friendly weakness--Angel

Depending on these kinds of qualities an individual coming into your life while you are kundalini active will tend to be archetypically amplified...your energies will tend to promote more exaggerated classically archetypal behavior in others because your own Superego has been overridden by the extra energy clearing out the brainstem and limbic. Thus slowly the "good little boy/girl" conditioning of conformist sleep is swept away by the ongoing brain-wipe of kundalini; essentially bringing the potentials of the brain up to contemporary standards and removing the really entrenched wiring that holds organism-total back from the living moment of now. Because this is an enormous shift from the conditioned human toward the Universal human, and because of the enormous energies involved in this shift, our kundalini affects everyone within our sphere for miles around.

I found that without the massive ability to make myself go unconscious to insult and injury, I still had to build up to furious levels of indignation before I would actively express my distress to someone who was hurting me. That is the kundalini allowed me to fully express that sense of injustice which I had spent a lifetime trying to hold in. Only after this expression of self-will can mature self-defenses be established...because going unconscious being the most primitive, infantile form of defense mechanism prevents the evolution of more sophisticated defense strategies.

The "women or man in distress" is usually someone who has not been well parented and is still looking for direction, protection, meaning, support etc...from someone else. Manipulative, usually selling sex or service for some sort of advantage, and presenting a weakness that makes you want to "help" them.

The "lost child" might be an even more primitive form of this where the self-system is very weakly developed and the person appears like a hungry ghost, where nothing you do for them will really shift them out of their hopelessness.

The "wolf is the feral male," this energy comes and goes with the solar spot cycle apparently...unbalanced male energy becoming aggressive around solar max and looking to hurt others as a source of pleasure. They are after the stabilizing, fortifying power of adrenaline and dopamine that tormenting others gives them. High testosterone women might operate in a similar but less obvious fashion to these males. The feral wolves do not have well developed self-systems and are reacting unconsciously to predatory cues with no awareness as to what they are doing or why. They home in like buzzards around someone in the vulnerable stages of awakening when the past-defense systems have been blown off...females especially might have a problem with these, and should change their habits accordingly...I just wrote on this for a woman who was at this vulnerable stage of awakening.

You could say that the role of the feral male is to install masculine wakefulness, genuine self preservation and self determinacy in the sheep of the community, by making them realize that their sense of safety is really an illusion. It helps to clear out self defeating patterns of inertial, infantile regression, unconsciousness, self-negation, delusion etc... by being exposed to random acts of violence which work directly on our sense of justice/injustice and victimhood. In this way we become more genuinely empowered through finding inner resources of self-integrity, self-preservation which are non aggressive. The States is dealing with a feral-wolf government at present in order that the people wake up to their true nature and potential.

The reason why I point out these archetypal energetic patterns is that they become so incredibly in your face that it becomes almost like a parody of humanity that one is living. It is like one is living in a overly obvious, inevitable and predetermined movie which is both comedy and horror. To step back and take a look at these patterns as simply knee-jerk energies in the ongoing human drama and to not take them seriously or personally is to tease ourselves apart from their ability to mesmerize, disturb us and distract us from a higher-deeper path.

Regarding archetypes: speaking from experience you may want to include the con artist among them.  (Or does this fall into the "man in distress" archetype?)

We each would have our own spectrum of archetypes we typically encounter, it would be great to do a group discussion on this, perhaps around a particular book on the subject. The con-artist is somewhat pervasive over most of the archetypes, as simply that element of non-realization or non-authenticity, of someone who is unconscious to their motives. There is also an element of healthy con-artistry, which is known as ?fake it till you make it.? In this unstable world which is so unintegrated and scattered at present it is very hard to really know what is what, who one is, where one is going...so to a certain extent I think we all are winging it, just to see what happens...we have no courage of conviction because we cannot predict or plan in a crumbling civilization. In a way it is crumbling, in another way it is growing. What is crumbling is our blind faith in illusions, as we increasingly delve into reality through experience and move between cynicism and hope. Bringing more and more humaneness to this equation is our ongoing moral imperative, and the basic drive of any true spirituality.

However, transcending the known and the culture at large we can then center ourselves beyond this world and learn to ride the waves in a lasse faire fashion which is not so much con-artistry but simply a certain gusto for the play of uncertainty. We need very different skills than our parents had to be happy and healthy in todays world.

The con artist seems to contain the shadow element of the trickster, don't you think?  (And this may be of particular importance to those who keep running into con artists all the time...)

The con artist is at the ground of the American character, so you are likely to come in contact with alot of con artists here, however they are instantaneously easy to spot, by their lack of emotional depth (hiding), or conversely extreme show of emotion (camoflage). And by feeling their presence you feel a lack of something...the conartist does not believe in his reality and the truth of his game and so you can sense this as a tangible absence in their presence field. I can feel into peoples brains by their communication with me through their voice tone, because the voice resonates in my brain as a certain frequency. Thus I can always tell peoples agendas and if they are lying or not by what their voice does in my head. If some one is lying or after sex on the phone, I feel it as a hole, an absence in the middle of my brain. The con artist or trickster doesn't often know he is play-acting, he thinks that this is the only way to be in the world, because he is not self-realized, therefore he is trying to manipulate the world instead of Being in it. If people are out of touch with their emotions then they cannot help to be this way because they do not understand themselves, or know themselves. And without Grokking yourself in real time, how can one Be...in fact Grokking is nothing other than Being. Some conartists/tricksters are very seductive, using beauty, charisma or whatever advantage they have in order to win at whatever game they are playing. If someone looks flashy/showy to you, they are probably a conartist of some kind.

Great question...the Shaman I think is a divinely elected "role" played by an individual who has been through the metamorphic death-rebirth experience and therefore has more access to levels of consciousness beyond the consensus trance. Typically you could say that the shaman was perhaps the most ?individuated? member of the tribe. As human evolution proceeds however we each need to take on ?all? of the roles that were found in a tribe. In order to be whole or actualized in the universal sense, we each need to pass though the death-rebirth experience to become a shaman. We each need to be the Chief decision maker and the worker-utilitarian provider, as well as the protector-warrior. The shaman is someone with a personal relationship to the universe that doesn?t have to rely on an expert, Chief or an external source for answers or verification. Thus a shaman is sovereign, however, the con artist, idle tricksters and feral wolves are not yet sovereign. They are not plugged into their soul and thus operate as partial beings, unconsciously following primitive impulses/biochemistry arising from the reptilian and old mammalian power drives. Because they have no direct contact with the divine they assuage their uncertainty by messing with and terrorizing the people in their world. Thus they are delinquent subordinates who are not divinely lead and so cannot become leaders (Good Kings)?even if they do rise to positions of power through their chameleon tricks (Bush/Cheney) they do not have the consciousness of heart in which to be true patricians but by their actions reveal their Wounded King status.

    Just out of curiousity, what are your thoughts on the law of attraction and how does it relate (if at all) to the kundalini experience

I dunno, we seem to get ourselves into situations that we are attracted to due to both the ascendent urge  for evolution, and also the descendent urge to both retrigger/replay and heal our primary wounding. Kundalini's perturbing effect on the repression mechanisms in the brain means that much that was previously buried in the unconscious within us, rises up into conscious awareness. Because many of us hold alot of pain, the lifting of the veils is not always pleasant or easy, but it is always satisfying, because numbness and repression is so energy intensive and life depleting. Grace gives us the sentience, energy and love necessary to go into our primary damage/deficiencies in order that we may become more of who we are prior to and beyond our conditioning. We arrive as eagles and get made into sparrows by the ignorance of those around us...then we have to learn how to spread our wings and fly again as a wild-free creature of the universe. Kundalini basically amplifies everything including the passions with which to be attracted to something or person. In peak kundalini we are very much more tapped into the noosphere, with greatly amplified senses and extrasenses, to the point where we are more trans-spacial and trans-temporal. Thus there is a quickening in life experience and in the Law of Attraction.

Interesting as always, Michael.   My contribution:  I think that, deep down, we want to be free most of all.  We're not free when others have sovereignty over us.  Still, that doesn't mean that we want to be sovereign over ourselves.   Does happiness involve a sense of self-authority?   It doesn't feel that way to me when I'm happy.  When I'm happy, I feel free of obligation, of subjugation to the will of others, but most of all I feel that there are no boundaries within me or without.   Anything feels possible.  Power is no longer needed - over others or over myself.   Why would I need power?  I'm free.

What I want most for those I care about is that they are free too.  I can't engender freedom in others, but:  I can do my bit by relinquishing the will to control them, to be sovereign over them.

Thinking for myself happens when I am spontaneous.  If I have to work at it, I'm trying too hard, I'm imposing power and demanding sovereignty over my mind.  If I give it up, give up imposing on myself, the thoughts come as they need to.  Freely.  And:  it no longer feels as though I'm an isolated me.  It feels as though I'm the world expressing itself in thoughts, ephemeral as sunbeams though they be....

Hmm interesting David. Perhaps abundance consciousness (Self-actualization) begins with the "intention" of personal sovereignty. Our ability to realize our sovereignty is determined by the degree that we can grant sovereignty to others, for we can only be as free as we are willing to let go of others. Maturity must be this process of Self-responsibility that allows the Self the psychic space to emerge through releasing others to their own personal sovereignty. And we remain as dependents and children to the degree that we cannot. The reality is that culture sets one up and cultivates one as a dependent...dependent on parents, a boss, a 9-5, a doctor, a plummer...and to this extent the entire socio-economic-politico-matrix is parasitic because it is based on dependency rather than facilitation of the individuation/differentiation of the individual. Which explains the lack of original thought.

Perhaps at some point in our evolution we will change over to a sovereign culture of divine individuals. I think getting everyone up to rational speed is the first step in order to prevent the emotional illogic of parasitic systems whether they be churches, governments, the medical industry or parents. I estimate it will take another 50 years for the bulk of western society that is still spiritually growing to get to a scientific spirituality. Right now we are moving into an era of the Imagination which is taking us out of shame-guilt...but that imagination is deeply soiled with mythic byproducts from the New Age and the religious traditions.

Eloquent as ever, Jana, and I'm very much with you in the lines I've picked out in the first paragraph here.

But I guess that, for me, needing others to be sovereign over themselves isn't really releasing them, is it? 

Its conditional.  I'm not setting them free if there are conditions.  I've got to accept that they can do what they want, even if I don't agree with their choices.   Which is that old Wilber thing about honoring all levels of consciousness, not just the ones I happen to like.

And, too, if we blame culture for making us dependent, aren't we reinforcing our dependency?  You choose otherwise, don't you?   Me too, mostly.  Others may accept dependence, but they have a right to if they want...   Its the nature of freedom, the right to make bad choices....

Clint Eastwood said something about minding our own corner of the Universe. I would like to be more focused on what I am to do, be, rather than focusing on this or that person, transgression or whatever. Part of this focus on ones own patch of eternity is ones committment, sincerity and passion for ones goal/goals. And this of course has to do with how authentically one is ones Self in order to have full spectrum drive and belief in ones goals, direction, focus. If we each focus on our own patch of eternity in a divinely inspired way then we should cocreate a mosaic of God's mind.

See the spiritual (Hero's) journey is simultaneous instant and linear infinite. All parts are reflected holographically in the whole and expressed at varing quantities and qualities at the different temporal points of the path. Thus the seed contains the flower.

95% of humanity is still at the prepersonal stage. Where Ken is going wrong with his lambaste of the Secret-Law of Attraction movement, is that he assumes that narcissism is due to self-love. Whereas in reality narcissism is self hatred born from the fear generated by a lack of development of the ?personal.? Narcissism is a false pride covering a biological sense of unworthiness. 95% of humanity is deeply steeped in biological unworthiness or separation from the All/Cosmos/God, and thus the obessive preoccupation with religions?you only need a way to get back home if you are separated from home. The Secret and associated New Thought movement will at least help people get up to the personal levels where their self-love can then be extended out for the benefit of the Globe.

?Feeling entitled to happiness is certainly not something most of us grew up with. We were told that we either had to work harder than we wanted to in order to earn happiness, or better still, not expect it at all. The idea of concentrating on ways to make ourselves happy was?and to some extent still is?considered morally unacceptable. This belief ignores the truth that denying one?s best interests also denies the needs of those we care about.
