In this teleseminar, author, dream work innovator and Unitarian Universalist minister Dr. Jeremy Taylor describes the importance of dreams and nightmares in revealing our shadow side
“Until we can reconcile with our own interior beings, the pressures to project those fears outward onto the natural world are immense and ultimately unavoidable.” In his conversation with host Tina Amorok, he describes how the dream work process provides an opportunity to work through unconscious fears and release their effects in our lives.

I thought it was interesting. I liked the story about Jung realizing that he's a character in someone else's dream. The chat left me wondering: Is waking reality merely a projection? (If so, maybe I should drop the "merely") This seems compatible with Berkeley's brand of idealism, which I'm quite fond of. I'm not proficient in lucid dreaming, but it seems like lucid waking is a good place to start. You know, "be here now" "mindfulness" and all that jazz. The idea that transcendent mystical experiences are projections of the unconscious is no doubt true. God lives in the unconscious, at least until the unconscious is made conscious. Embrace your demons sounds like "love your enemies" to me.

God lives in the unconscious, at least until the unconscious is made conscious.

Yea that is the beauty of "Always Already", for our daily experience is in reaction to internal deficiences, but if we can embrace the feltsense of Always Already Whole then we have conscious choice over cause and effect. Merely trying to give up our substitute gratifications when the egoic-deprivation mode is thousands of years in the making is merely creating greater deprivation and egoity. Rather we need to set about wholesale to create a new life structure that transcends the numbing, brain damaging and disease forming processes of our current sapiens culture.

I am going to buy the Sapolsky DVD and tell you what its like. I have some audio of his.

A morning dream 1/15/09 revealed a workmate who uses constant auxillary services, jewelery and material objects to prop herself up. In the dream see was a little girl of 2 years or so, she had independently gone off on her own into town and was busying herself with this and that. I was concerned that adult "J" didn't know where she was, so I was trying to ring on various phones (old ones from the 50's) to tell her where her little child was.

This helps me realize that "J's" complex of egoic coping behavior is related around being the youngest in the family about 10 years after the first two children. So now I can try and remind her every time she talks of a health issue or auxillary service that she is Always Already Whole, Perfect and Complete. Because we cannot get to the satiation of Spirit through the means of deprivation.

Lucid waking IS a good place to start.  Wink   lucid dreaming is usually associated with being able to control things in the dream, but i've always been aware of the dream process while sleeping (even with all the flying dreams as a kid) and don't really see any benefit to letting the conscious ego in to control things in that realm (it does enuf damage on the other side) and would rather let the mystery unfold.

That's an interesting point Jim.  Thanks...

For myself, I've just stopped caring one way or another.  And I don't know why that is...I used to care VERY much.

michael.. perhaps caring (like wanting) in this case is more of an ego thing.  if the ego has reached a more transparent state then the caring would drop off too.    also, maybe you just worked out what ever issues you needed to be resolved    Grin

henry.. thanks for the tip..  i'll go over to RS and check out the article.

it seems that my dreams the last few years have been pretty mundane, not sure what that says about anything....   Beats me

Dreams need new sensory and environmental input to produce more elaborate stories and scenes...because the brain is trying to adapt to new data and its mechanisms for processing novelty kick in producing more novelty. Fasting/detoxing produces deeper dreams and deeper life experience because it is one of the only things to clean cell receptors. High quality cedar essential oil will also clean synapses. Put on some music like Dreamtime by Steve Roach, or Awakened Mind #2 by Jeffery Thompson. Drink some high quality water and take 1 teaspoon of Magnesium Ascorbate (beyond-a-century.com) before  bed. You could make up a Dream Tea to sup before sleep:
Nettle, St John's Wort, Licorice, Ginger, Galangal, Orange Peel, Mugwort, Calea Zacatechichi (used by Mazatec shamans to induce vivid dreams), Valarian, Calamus root, Blue Vervain (used by Pawnee Indians), as well as Wild Lettuce, California Poppy. www.iamshaman.com/eshop/10Browse.asp?Search=Dream%20Herb

DREAMWAYS OF THE IROQUOIS Robert Moss
Robert Moss says dreamwork is for us to use it to remember our true spiritual nature as soul. Dreamwork helps make soul awareness, which is usually dormant except while we sleep, more a part of our waking consciousness.

The Kin of Ata Are Waiting for You by Dorothy Bryant describes the healing nature of a community that centers their lives around dreaming.

Ginkgo supplements have had a noticeable effect of making me remember my dreams. Anybody got web links to aboriginal dreamtime essays? There's a great essay I have somewhere that talks about a vision quest where this shaman falls asleep in a cave and dreams that a bear comes in and eats his body. He says that it was painless until the bear bit through his heart, which hurt like hell. Then he was in the bears stomach and the bear vomited him back up in pieces and he reconstituted himself and was ok. Sort of like the Jonah story with the whale. Or perhaps Osiris and Seth, where Seth disembowels and dismembers Osiris and Isis has to reconstitute the pieces and he comes back anew. Shamanic pulp fiction. Beats sit-coms.

That is your typical shamanic dissolution reconstition dream representing the atomic reality of kundalini...shamans should be active, or they are not shamans.

Lawlor points out that Aboriginal society can be a potent resource for us in finding non-violent alternatives for parenting and discipline.

For example, young children in the Aboriginal culture are allowed full expression of their emotions and free rein in their behavior and are supported, even indulged, by the entire clan.  But as they mature they are increasingly introduced to their responsibilities to kin and society.  In other words, as babes and toddlers their individuality is supported and encouraged; but as they grow older, around the age of six or seven, their relatedness to clan and tribe is increasingly emphasized.  Still later, at the time of puberty, they are introduced by way of initiatic rites to the spiritual mysteries of the Dreaming.  These rites are designed to help the young Aborigine to face his or her worst fears, making conscious the unconscious.  At this critical transition into adulthood, children are provided concrete experiences in relating to and surviving in the natural world, in meeting a variety of challenges physical and spiritual, and in so doing are encouraged to unfold their natural psychic powers.  Finally, upon completing their rite of passage, their achievement is joyously celebrated by the entire tribe, giving each young person a sense of well-earned self-worth, acceptance, and rootedness in their tribal family.

As a result of this natural progression, Lawlor points out, Aboriginal adults are mild-mannered, confident, and easy-going . . . with none of the rigid defensiveness and self-centeredness of the Western personality.  In Western childrearing practice, for the most part, repression and control occur very early; the emphasis as the child matures is on competitiveness, rather than relatedness, and materialism as opposed to spirituality.  Nor, with the exception of the Bar Mitzvah of Judaism, for example, are there supportive rites of passage.  Is it any wonder that the cumulative results of our unnatural childrearing practices, not to mention the violence of our high-tech birthing procedures, are the ever-increasing cycles of violence, suicide, and addictive behavior in our young people?

Is there hope for us?  Yes.  In fact our "fall from grace" may have been a natural part of the cosmic rhythm, the ebb and flow of events that is expressed in the explicate order by the periodic shifts in the Earth's magnetic fields, to name one factor.  In spite of the cosmic drama, with its highs and lows, the implicate order (as David Bohm would have it), the Dreaming of the Aborigines, the "Ground of Being" of Paul Tillich, is ever with us, timeless and eternal.  Indeed, our primal "home" has never really left us.  We need only open the door.  For starters we can pay heed and perhaps imbibe some of the ancient wisdom which the Australian Aborigines and so many indigenous peoples, including our own Native Americans, have preserved now for over one-hundred-thousand years.

This does not mean a return to the hunter-gatherer culture, of course.  But it will mean having the courage to heal our sundered selves.  To heed the archaic voice, which, although brutally quelled when first heard in the turbulent Sixties, is once again swelling and demanding expression.  And this time it will be heard.  Indeed it is already happening.  All around us links to the archaic are manifesting: shamanic journeying, inner explorations through holotropic and primal breathwork, and other modalities based on the reclaiming of our repressed inner selves are now spreading fast.

This morning part of my dream involved this guy lying in the cold river...he emerged and with his arms extended downward, he shook them (pumping not waving) up and down rapidly...then he pressed his hands together in front of him with arms still extended down. This acts to warm up the social wiring connected to the arms and relieves tension from the heart. But it also warms and enlivens the body and releases morbidity.

The second part of this teaching was that...I was given his jacket to wear. In a pocket on the back of the chest there was a large gold coin with some Obsidian attached to it, some other items and a guidebook for wildlife in the area.

Considering that the arm shaking exercise activates the back area at the shoulder blades and rhomboids and is connected to the Heart center these items show that if the social wiring system is not activated our spiritual gold is occluded from the light and that we become morose, introverted, and uninterested in learning about the specifies of the natural or social environment in which we live. Our humanizing system is shut down and on ice. All the more reason why human babies need constant heart to heart, eye to eye contact with heaps of arm activity and hugging. As an extension almost of the infant primate actually "holding" onto the mother constantly for the lactation period.

"Check out Francis's post before this."  Wink

Voices of The First Day: Awakening in the Aboriginal Dreamtime, Robert Lawlor

He points to the fateful schism between our civilization and the natural environment — a schism reflecting the more fundamental one within, between our conscious and unconscious selves.  This lack of integration, along with our objectifying and overly analytical mind is now driving us headlong to apocalypse. For centuries we have denied the universe an internal life and have imprisoned our own awareness; living only on the shallow surface of our world and of our consciousness, we have lost touch with our sense of unity — not only with our deeper self but with all of creation.  At this time in human history it is absolutely essential that we recover it, and, as Lawlor demonstrates, this is the precious knowledge that the Aborigines possess.  In the Aboriginal way of life there is a vital message for us and a deep logic that we can no longer deny. Ever implicit in the Aborigines' altogether natural and fearless embrace of life is a depth of psychological wisdom and a full-blooded spirituality which shows our civilization, with all of its highly touted achievements, to be impoverished and even barbaric by contrast. www.primalspirit.com/mlpr1_1lawlor.htm

Feb 15 2010
For the last 3 mornings I wake at 2am.
This morning I went back to sleep and dreamed. The last scene was me and a young guy in a tent, I looked out and saw the black storm cloud in the sky again, similar to the one I saw on 3/19/07 dream., shaped like Iraq  There were multiple atom bomb hits, perhaps 5. They were not the big mushroom clouds, but small skinner and black/grey…probably the kind of strategic missile hits…like these bunker buster bombs
http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.uruknet.info/pic.php%3Ff%3Danatomia_bomba.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.uruknet.info/index.php%3Fp%3D28194&usg=__aOWQDhp47Lg4HH8MW17rg62ft4E=&h=240&w=320&sz=11&hl=en&start=1&sig2=Qj8hfSPXeCwt1hDA8yK3EA&itbs=1&tbnid=4cwiEwyJ_f0zqM:&tbnh=89&tbnw=118&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dbunker%2Bbuster%2Bbomb%26gbv%3D2%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official&ei=q9t5S4SgA6LKtAPxhtS8Cw

I turned around back into the tent again and the guy I was with had ran off taking blankets. There was another scene around the need for blankets so the season was probably winter/spring.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8502705.stm  —Gates setting the stage by feigning patience/diplomacy.

IAEA finds Iran in violation of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Iran condemns the resolution and vows to speed up uranium enrichment work.
I thought I heard of some kind of deadline in March…but can’t find reference to it.

I am sorry to say folks that my atom bomb dreams are 100% correlated with world events. The first occur on the night of the LA riots, Then I had two separate atom bomb dreams depicting 911. I suspect this one is connected with the bombing of Iranian atomic facilities…perhaps in March or April.

Watch for politicians Gates, Leon Panetta CIA etc… making a case for war…as they speak they will rarely lift their heads off the page…as sign that they are operating out of false pretenses…premeditating scheming.

The black storm cloud always seems to represent the Middle East (eg: oil fires). This one was shaped more like Iran.

Dreams are never wrong. But our interpretation can be.
My atom bomb dreams are not like normal dreams, they pack an enormous amount of psychic energy and are very hard to assimilate...a grieving has set upon me so that 3 days later the grief is the most acute. This is not so much an anger at the stupidity and evil of American imperialism. The chemistry of the dream put me into grief and so I subjectify it into contemplating the worst decision I ever made when I walked away from the man of my dreams so I could go to Boulder and write BOK. So this latest bomb dream makes me grieve for him and my aborted life.

The LA riot atom bomb occurred in NZ the night before I was to fly out to the US. In the dream I was in a house in Santa Barbara looking down at the atom bomb over LA...this occurred at the same time the riots and burning were happening.

1999-The two 911 dreams were...two buildings in the heart of the city become atomic stems...one in which a radioactive/caustic substance (thermite) was seeping in a line through my office and I was morbid that it touched my toe. The later one was a guy walking up to the outside of a petrol station hitting a switch and the two atomic stem buildings went up. There was also a dream in which two new tech dolphin shaped planes flew over the desert lake bed we were on and dived into the sand...like matter was transparent to them, we ran to a cave and closed a door to the invaders.

You can see the present situation unfolding...H. Clinton was just in Qatar and Saudi to get "permission." Saudi A has been readying itself for Nuc strike on Iran for years.

"During her three-day visit to Qatar and Saudi Arabia, Clinton denied the United States planned to attack Iran and said Washington wanted dialogue with Tehran but could not "stand idly by" while Iran pursued a suspected nuclear weapons program."

Differentiating Life from Death
My dreams were awesome this morning, basically the message was the need to separate the chocolate from the shit myself. That is...we are exposed to so much shit during this period of rapid transformation...the apocalypse...when truth is unveiled. A higher order of being will shake out eventually as the corrupt power accumulation systems fall under their unsustainable weight. Yet we cannot focus on the shit, we must focus on building the new way and establishing community support systems that allow us to unplug from the industrial extortion conglomeration. As each of us personally distinguishes and separates our Eros from our Thanatos and steps onto the path of increasing lifeforce...then our divine creativity will pull us through this time of "apparent" chaos, generated by malignant power out of control.

I was cutting a sunbathing blanket too skinny and my female guide stopped me and said it needed to be wider. That is the "sun" or Source cannot properly enter a miserly, truncated, distorted or confused system. For a generous outcome we must establish a luxuriously Eros opened approach to our personal lives and the transformation of culture. In order to free ourselves from the clutches of the Borg, we must celebrate our humanity...I mean really celebrate, revere, honor, love and explore it. Without Eros the mind can become dangerously dissociated—rendered inhuman, greedy and driven to dominate, acquire, and exploit everything including ourselves. Even asceticism…cutting down the bounty of natures fertile abundance…is a form of greed. Eros is the spiritual energy of relationship through love and feeling.

Through scientific understanding, our world has become dehumanized. Man feels himself isolated in the Cosmos. He is no longer involved in nature through participation mystic. This exploitive science of the Borg however is not true science. True whole human science is the art of direct participation with the mysteries of the divine universe. Through Eros we maintain universal morality through clearly feeling that which is going “with” the evolution of life, and that which is plainly going against life’s sustainability. The importance of the heart-to-brain link is primarily that the prefrontal lobe-heart connection is the master integrator—the master switch to sovereignty and the soul. The soul is made of light and sound and so our matter must be made to facilitate the free flow of photons and phonons.

The big picture of our current situation is simple really, humanity has been suppressing itself out of fear of the unknown for millions of years. Humanity has been destroying itself out of ignorance for 11,000 years since agriculture began. Humanity has been outright killing itself in the last 200 years with chemical agriculture. What will save us from our rampage against life is the awakening of awareness through kundalini rising and the opening up of the head-heart link, interhemispheric communication, full prefrontal lobe capacities and communion with the intelligence of the solar plexus. These capacities which are necessary for whole person functioning are returning to us now and so we can begin to create a human culture that nurtures the whole human and Gaia according to the reality of natural law, as divined by Eros.
