The Isha system© is a powerful set of simple tools that expand consciousness and anchor the individual in unconditional love.
"There is nothing more fulfilling than unconditional love of self, and when we experience it, we can extend that love to every aspect of creation. When we love ourselves unconditionally, all fear disappears, and we experience union with everything. This isn't a subtle experience; it's absolute. It is the greatest thing that can happen to any human."
Spiritual teacher Isha discusses the ways we hold ourselves back from truly being happy and living a fulfilling life.

You say that we are all addicted to suffering- what do you mean?
We make choices in our lives that bring us pain and suffering; we're addicted to wanting what we can't have, to substances that invariably leave us feeling bad with ourselves, to relationships that don't bring us into higher levels of love. Sometimes we're simply addicted to being right. We are addicted to these things because on some level we associate suffering, depression, insecurity - with love. This is a consequence of conditional love, because it's based on the outside. It takes a certain amount of control and masks to sustain it, and invariably it leads us to suffering. You will also see that your mind goes automatically to a space of focusing on what's wrong, on places of injustice, betrayal, abandonment, criticism, self doubt; these are all aspects of our addiction to suffering.

You say that a key step to living a fulfilled life is removing your social mask- what do you mean?
As we start to expand internal consciousness, a by-product of that is embracing our humanity. Being vulnerable, and speaking our truth, instead of always lying and pretending that things are ok when they're not. Then we get resented when other people don't understand how we feel. Start being honest and real and transparent; this creates more love. We have an illusory fear that when we adopt these behaviors, people won't love us, and that they will separate themselves from us, but that's just a fear of the mind. When we start loving ourselves exactly as we are, the outside starts to mirror that love back, and it gives everyone else the opportunity to find themselves.

You say that we all learn to lie to ourselves, what do you mean?
There are so many areas in our lives where we use masks, where we compromise, where we abandon ourselves in order to receive approval on the outside. These behaviors cultivate resentment; we're constantly convincing ourselves that it's ok, that this is normal, but in reality we're not in joy, we're not in peace and we're not enjoying our human experience to the level we could if we were focused on unconditional love. We abandon ourselves to such a point and put on so many social masks that we forget our true essence - we lose sight of ourselves, of our own unique beauty, in a vain attempt to create a character that is socially and emotionally accepted, so that it can sustain security on the outside.

In your book you talk a lot about the "mental matrix" what is that?
The matrix of the mind is our window of perception. It's a consequence of all the experiences we've had throughout our lives; our belief systems, our fears, our shocks, our abandonments; our judgments, our likes, our dislikes... and the mind becomes a matrix. With that matrix, we're never present in the moment. We live on the superficial level, always worrying about the future and regretting the past, perceiving everything through our dirty window of perception. When we start to focus on love-consciousness, we come back to a place of innocence and joy, and the dirt on the window of perception starts to dissolve. We start to see things as they are, not as we are; our judgments start to fall and we start to perceive a unity and perfection on the outside, in a place where there used to be constant fear and self doubt.

You say many people make the mistake of seeing happiness as a future moment- what do you mean?
We always think that our happiness is in a future moment: when we achieve more, when we find the perfect partner, when we have more money, more romance, when we're thinner, when we're more successful... but happiness is a choice in this moment. When we start choosing for love-consciousness, we start to realize that this constant yearning is insatiable, that only when we find this internal peace and joy can we start to enjoy the magic of life in this moment, the beauty of nature in this moment, the love of our friends and families within this moment; the perfection of this moment uninhibited by the endless dissatisfaction of a future moment that never completely appears.

What are some tips to accepting ourselves and loving ourselves?
First, you have to expand internal consciousness. The quickest way I know to do that is through the Isha system. Secondly, living in the present moment. See the places where we constantly abandon ourselves in order to please others, and start being more real and honest. Focus on praise and gratitude instead of always criticizing and looking for what's wrong, and when you look at yourself in the mirror in the morning, really look, and try and look through the eyes of love, and embrace yourself exactly as you are. The slightest switch towards love vibrates in such a high frequency, and the changes are so dramatic, but we have to embrace every aspect of our humanity, including the places that we judge: feel them, own them and then see through them, allow the emotions to pass like clouds across the sun, and we will finally become the person that we dream of being. And the most astonishing realization, is that person is just simply ourselves.

What is love consciousness?
It's a profound experience of love, peace and joy, within ourselves. When we start to focus on it, it starts to expand, until it becomes your permanent experience, beyond the duality of the ever changing world we live in. We discover an internal place of peace and perfection in the present moment, like what we experience as children.

this brings to mind that the sanskrit word that was translated as suffering in the Buddhist tradition also has the meaning of satisfaction (satisfied).  when one is satisfied in the current conditions there is less suffering to be felt.

Anchored in unconditional love? Isn't being 'anchored' the opposite of freedom and ecstacy (ex-stasis, not static, unanchored).

Smart ass
Since the suffering ego is founded on self-hatred...separation from soul...creating a system (belief system, religion, psychotherapy) principally around the notion of self-love is a fabulous business move. But not only that, helping people to love themselves is imperative to the creation of spiritual civilization, and enhancement the humanizing principle and survival of the species/gaia. Freedom, excitement and ecstacy (ex-stasis, not static) begin where love is. Where there is love everything follows. The soul is made of love and forever strives to return home to greater love...the soul seeks to lose itself in love. Unconditional love is our natural, aboriginal state. Love is the essence of who we are. To come home to ourselves, all we need do is return to the heart.

Love is the most powerful force in the world. But it also gives rise to hate, as I’ve said. Hate is dysfunctional love. Sort of like an auto-immune disease; where the body attacks itself. How do we distangle the hate and make the love healthy again? I think it perhaps starts with facing the hate and realizing it’s a dead end. Hate is a mixture of love and fear. Disable the fear and you distill the love into a more pure, more functional, and more satisfying form.

Quote:

"Walk In Love

Love is the most precious gift that can be given to someone, a gift that cannot be bought. Love springs from a pure heart and a good conscience.
Nothing in this world is perfect and unforeseen events are bound to happen in any situation. But love conquers all!! We accomplish this not through our own power, but by offering ourselves to God’s infinite compassionate love. When we believe in the power of love, and our inmost unlimited capacities to give, life can take on vast joyfulness. Love is the medicine for the sickness of mankind.
Love is a feeling which is lasting, kind, unselfish and unfading in its hope. Love never fails. Love is success. Love is happiness, and love is life. Love patiently accepts all things. It always trusts, always hopes, and always continues strong. Love thinks no evil, imputes no motive, and sees the bright side in every action. What a delightful state of mind to live in! I believe that building a relationship is a lifelong process. We need unconditional love to climb the highest mountain, where we can gaze at the beautiful sunrise of God’s love, where rays illuminate us and make us sparkle with all the colors of the rainbow.
Love creates, inspires, heals and illuminates. By experiencing love we are able to be free, honest, to take off our mask of pride, to act genuinely, to see and accept ourselves as we really are, and in relation to our fellow humans. We must exercise patience, kindness, meekness, and warm understanding toward ourselves. It is love that enlightens, purifies and forgives, cordial and compassionate.
I really trust love, to have faith in love, to develop a taste for it, to look for it, and find it in others. Love strengthens our steps in the right direction even through difficult paths. Without love, life turns empty and bitter. There is no place of misunderstanding when goodness exists, because goodness is a wide open space for everyone to be. I firmly believe in the joy and power of love. I discover the joy of service without expecting reward or praise in return. Do everything in love trusting in the strength of Divine Love.
If we want to enhance goodness in the world, we must strengthen the power of love – to give room to all that is good, beautiful and true. Each day offers us opportunities of sharing our love and concern. Each opportunity we miss will never come back.

"Disable the fear and you distill the love into a more pure, more functional, and more satisfying form."

One of the main desires of the separatist ego is to live forever, so it is not strange that our principle fear is that of death. So it is interesting that religions offer reincarnation, life after death, eternal life to cement the loyalty of their flock. This non-resolution with personal death however, keeps us at an immature, irrational level of development, and ironically reinforces the cage of the mortal personality and materialism. A life-grip translates as a death-grip as the masculine and feminine sides of the power drive come into play…along with contraction, negativity and resistance. The diminished expression of our energy fields means we are cut off from the superconductivity of union with the cosmos and so we are constantly trying to feed, soothe and defend ourselves through the worldly domain. By dying to this mechanism of clinging to life we get to live our eternal Self now. If we can live life with the comfortable accompaniment of death, then we can really begin to live. Only the ego wants to "come back again," however the Self is intent not on repetition, but on expressing and experiencing as much divinity as it can outside of the box of the clinging ego.

Diffuse love (528 Hz) into fear and you get growth and evolution. That is cosmically coherent and contemporaneous consciousness...unity. Fear is all about the past, it is an inadequate attempt to the raw-edge of contemporary spirit. Beauty and order are build not through the psychic disharmony and competitive nature of our lonely power drive...but through the proactive waging of peace...not in resistance to fear, but despite it. We can turn from our decent into oblivion at any point, to build an enchanted Eden of perfect, luminousity and majestic order. We cannot resonate in the love frequency while we are still clinging to life and fearing death, but the soporifics of religious fairytales is not the way through to personal enlightenment and the mystic civilization. Through detoxification, remineralization, regeneration of body, mind and environment can we diffuse love (528 Hz) into fear so we can get evolution and temporal union with Spirit (ie: Eternity).

I think the ‘eternal life’ metaphor is an apt description of the immortality and resiliency of the Self, in stark contrast to the frailty and transience of the ego-self and of the individual human body. IOW, once you identify yourself with the cosmic unity, then you have ‘eternal life’ in a sense and fear of death disappears. It’s true that most religions are probably not achieving this connection as well or as often as they could or should. But I don't see it as some manipulative tool to gain loyalty.

What’s the correlation with the “528 hertz”? Is love a brainwave frequency?

I think the Eternal soul idea refers to the perfection, transcendent, uncorruptible nature of the Spirit. It reminds me of the David Lynch video of an Indian Guru friend of his trying to tell an audience that he will make the German people "invincible" and they got very upset with him because they took it at the worldly level and it reminded them of their fascist past.

Immortal spirit, your soul, the groove thing....whatever you call it...I and  Universe are One. Love Frequency 528 Hz...High living energy equals high emotions.

In order to get people interested in our soul-work it is said that we need to work on our abundance prior to offering our dharma...and yet our dharma, the practices and processes that help us emerge from the slave culture into the self-actualization culture, is the only thing of "real" value we have to people. This is the double bind, that ones soul-work is not profitable until we have an ensouled society, and yet an ensouled society will not emerge unless the soul-work is done. Thus we hobble on into the future. Is worldly abundance, that is a show of success, the same thing as the energy of attraction?
