Hey,

I just scanned in part, focused in part on "Monumentally, Gloriously, Divinely Big Egos."

It is the "divinely" that is the killer. Jung wrote about identifying with the archetype and the "inflation" that results therefrom. Inflation is not cool!

So, if anyone out there knows where Feral is hanging out, send her big hugs from Vla.

Inflation is not cool. Projection of the archetype onto others is like the common idol-style worship of hollywood celebrities. Identification with the archetype yields idol-style worship of the self. Inflation of the ego.

'Mana' Personalities
The mana personalities are symbols of the power and wisdom that lie the deep parts of your psyche. This is where the man meets the 'Wise Old Man' in dream and where the woman meets the 'Great Mother'. Jung calls them mana personalities because in primitive communities anyone having extraordinary powers or wisdom was said to be filled with mana (a Melanesian word meaning 'holiness' or 'the divine'.)
Jung warns not to be possessed by the mana personalities or it could result in megalomania (delusions of grandueur, wealth, power, etc.). For example, a woman who allows her conscious mind to be invaded and subdued by the Great Mother will begin to believe herself able and destined to protect and nurture the whole world. A man in this instance would believe he is some sort of superman or great guru, filled with heroic power or superior imsight into the meaning of things.
The mana personalities can be projected onto someone else. For example, instead of making contact with this inner store of power and wisdom, one may choose to disown it and see it as the property of someone else, some national leader or folk hero (as in John Lennon's murder).
The proper thing to do with the mana personality is to integrate it into your consciousness. This means that consciousness and unconsciousness is no longer seen as opposites, but as two cooperating and complimenatry parts of one and the same psyche.

both of those aspects was/is the main problem with II/IN. wilber's obssesive work out routine of both his mind and body. and his relentless restating of his basic concepts that get in the way of actual learning and progress, the need to frame every conversation.  and the other side of the coin. the almost worshiping by the acolytes that prevent them from being in the moment and who they are. an obvious feedback loop that isn't healthy for anybody and caused the "movement" to get mired down in the quicksand of ego in all it's unhealthy forms.

i'll have to go back sometime and pick and choose the talks to listen to.  but did SD really solve the problems in South Africa or just change the chaos to another state?  i don't see them going back and addressing the new problems.. wouldn't be good for business.

Spiral Dynamics is nothing but a modern version of the traditional ideas from astrology and tarot. The SD levels correspond quite well to the seven sacred planets of traditional astrology. Astrology tells us which planetary aspects, what Beck calls ‘vMemes’, are operative in any given situation. Once you know what forces are operative in a given situation, you can respond to that situation more effectively. I don’t see how these guys, Beck and Wilber, have added anything to the traditional formulations. They think this is some new, cutting edge scientific breakthrough, but it’s just reinventing the wheel. What’s next, Voodoo poppets touted as the latest in cutting edge I-I Personality Integration Tools? This whole thing is so laughably absurd as to border on the pathetic.

Ok, so I'm not a big proponent of the integral theory as I understand it. I admit it; I'm sketical based on what I have read. But I am willing to defer to the evidence. Does it work? Perhaps it has some mixed results?  Beats me

Spiral dynamics and integral T are only tools that can be used positively or negatively. Remember Hitler tried to install his version of spiral dynamics on the world...which strangely came out of the Kabalah via the Thule society and Blavatsky whom was influenced by Max Theon the great mystic Kabalahist. So we have ancient prehistory Egyptian spiritual occultism, expounded on by the Jews and used against them by the occidentals in the fight for power, property, pussy and pennies. Woo Hoo!

Wait and see..."integral" will be used in some such fashion down the line.

Isn't there a story in Juadaism where the Hebrew Nation was enslaved because they stopped following the rules of the their sacred covenent with Jehovah? Like in the garden of eden, same thing, "don't go eating of the tree, where I told you not to eat, I'll have to smite ya now" Old Jah is kind of a stickler for his rules. And we wonder where all the paranoia comes from... Roll Eyes

And we wonder where all the paranoia comes from...?

Too much hash and not enough mushrooms probably.

Around 3500 BC there must have been some kind of boost in metallury and weaponry.
Good ideas tend to get squashed to begin with and then taken up my military-govt.
Take for example the rise of monotheism with Akhenaton (1362 BC) and his father claiming to be the go-between the one God (Aton) and the land/people. Well this idea was squished by the priests and army...only to be taken up by the christian church at a later date.

Basically human beings are various levels of crazy. Embarrassed Cheesy

Basically occidentals temporarily won out because they rotted their brains and empathy with alcohol and so could kill, rape and plunder without conscience...while spreading a religion about not killing, raping and plundering. Huh? Which they borrowed from the Jews.

nice presentation on the integral feminine today by Claire Zammit. Its been kinda a Quan Yin week for me, snooping in on the burning man festivities via webstream. Although it feels more Mardi Gras party than its original '60s "happening" vibe, it still has a creative feminine core, maybe a wee on the Kali side. The "Man" burns tonight dark-thirty western time @ UStream burning man cigar

What integral awakening?  blush

I showed the diagonal cut of the steel columns with the melted thermite to a guy who should have the brains to see the full connotations in the historical artifact. But many people in this country have 911 denial to the point of being irrationally insane. I feel sorry for the soul of America, and afraid for the world because of it.
