The stress is not only caused by overt and unconscious social power mechanisms, but diet, radiations, pollution, nature deprivation etc...causing a Titantic species slide into enfeeblement and dehumanization. Our evolution has gone hand in hand with this life negating inflammatory process. We would be far more integrated and spiritually advanced if we have not become a meat eating violent species millions of years ago...but then if we had remained fruitarians we would not even be here now. Since we clearly know most of the agents that produce cellular, emotional and mental stress we can work to both build our endurance and protection, but start changing our social interaction and culture toward that which allows us to stop the degradation and to be whole without such a huge waste of human time and potential. A human life is the most precious thing in the universe...to us at least...and we really should start loving ourselves and treating our lives as precious.

Thing is we know these things...it just takes so long to articulate it...it really helps to have kundi initiates asking question though. I came up with that after someone asked me this yesterday>>>

To a certain extent we've gone from fruitarians to fruitcakes. Of course ram dass pointed out years ago that slaughtered animals are full of stress hormones which block, what I think he called, 'centeredness' - what I would call sovereignty. It makes sense, slaughter is stressful for the animal. Where does all that stress end up? In the meat itself. We eat it and absorb that stress. Then it's in us and affects our thoughts and behaviour.

This may explain why meat is such an 'addictive' food. Meat eaters are hooked on the stress hormones. Pure speculation, mind you.

We tend to get addicted to any harmful thing we put in our body, because the body's immune response first activates the adrenal glands to prepare for danger and so we get an initial energy charge from that which harms us (destroys our harmony). Repeated intake of offending substances however leads to adrenal fatigue, enervation, premature aging and disease.

Sure, when we eat meat we tend to partake in the stress chemicals produced in the animal at the time of death. But it is more complicated than that...first there is the thrill of the hunt and blood sacrifice which can become a lust in itself. Then the gluconutrients (sugars on top of the proteins on the cell surface) used in cellular communication are different in other animals than in humans...and so when we eat red meat these different sugars get incorporated into our tissues and act as permanent inflammatory agents by stimulating the body's immune system. Not to mention the free radical load of fire charred meats. But it has been a trade off, for human culture may not have developed at all if we had not pit our wits against the skills and intelligence of other animals in the hunt...leading to the necessary tool making which produced a larger brain.

There again it is not "stress" itself that is the bogeyman. It is our adaptation to and management of stress, and how we learn from our stressors that defines our evolution and our well-being. If we could culturally start leaning toward the Flow end of the challenge/boredom scale...building our skills and expertise to ever greater heights of self-expression, then stress could become our friend...if we know how to befriend it.

Thanks for reading this and for putting so much thought into it.For those who think I'm advocating unbridled competition and the suppression or disrespect of cooperation. Sorry, that's not my message. Not at all. Opposites are joined at the hip. Cooperation and competition deeply need each other. Focus too much on just one and you tend to wreck the system. Competition without cooperation tears a social system apart. Cooperation without competition freezes a social system, paralyzes it. We need both to maximize the nimbleness and creativity of the collective intelligence.The key is a dynamic balance.For those who think I'm advocating the kind of showdowns over status that nature has made basic to the lives of lizards and lobsters, not to mention puppies, peacocks, and chimps, I'm not. But these showdowns and their cruelties do exist, and they come from nature, not from you or me. I'm using pecking order showdowns to show the hormonal punch of up and down, of lift and descent, of soar and plunge, of aim for the stars versus dig a hole and hide.And thanks to Dante for recognizing the need for another balance of opposites, our animal nature with our intimations of the divine, our reason with our intuition, our fantasies with our gut instincts.This is a cosmos vigorously searching for her potential, continuously testing her unseen possibilities. in a discussion about sovereignty, its important to remember that the notion first appeared in literature in the "wife of Bath's" story in Chaucer's ancient Canterbury Tales. The knight has a year and a day to answer the question "What do Women want?". The Queen spared his life when he successfully answered "Sovereignty".

This is a cosmos vigorously searching for her potential, continuously testing her unseen possibilities. And she's doing it through capitalism, communism, creative commons, google, Adolph Hitler, Osama bin Laden, Barack Obama, and you and me. We have a huge responsibility.

I encouraged by Mr. Bloom's anthropomorphizing the cosmos. I have long awaited our species's thinking to revolve back into the conventional wisdoms of the Bronze Age. And his assumption of the generalized We...yes, he did mention Adolph Hitler. The stylistic assumption of "We" is the genesis of Fascism, that should be clear on the face of it. And its common use in a thread about sovereignty is proof of the superficial level of the thought therein. A truly sovereign individual would never think to use the We form because she would know that it is an unpardonable affront and challenge to anyone for whom she would have respect. It is one of those details that evince the application of that bromide that states "The style is all, the content, nothing."

Sovereignty demands that I don't read any of your post Stephen because you seem to be getting crabby in your old age. 
Generalization is unavoidable in conversation. I bet you use we occasionally, your problem with "we" seems so pointless I am not going to bother with it. I can see where you are coming from but the kind of strictness you demand in conversation takes all the joy out of it. And I would rather blather on at my general level.

The development of a new model for sovereign sustainability depends on our ability to think along the lines of a new cultural paradigm based on "sustainance." All that genuinely sustains us builds our individual and collective sovereignty. With our value system shifting from that of power and security to that which is sustaining, means that we collectively build genuine security and empowerment. In this way pathological systems no longer have sway over us. When we stop running away from ourselves the universe supports us. As our own energy circuits open up in the perfect give and take of cosmic energy...the sovereign umblicial receives the energy of the Unified Field... sustaining and building our individual and collective sovereignty.

Oh boy, I just got an email from an outbacker in Oz who is fully conversant like me on what needs to be done to save the Aussie continent. Awesome

The work of sovereignty involves those people of honor being able to hold it together and not collapse under the weight of the knowledge of destruction that the ignorance machine (new word please?) that is wrecking the life support systems and finely honed networks of Nature. It is pointless going to the leaders of the machine to try and change course, for they are literally invested in the status quo. Since we have no vested interest in the machine we can more clearly see what needs to be done...so we need to network with those of a similar vision and draw on powerful leaders that have already made an impact on directing their countries affairs in sacred land management. Since Australia is the birthplace of Permaculture it would be ironic if it went into complete ecocidal decline...purely because the conventional exploitive mindset couldn't be changed in time. If we have the solutions we need to work on them directly in whatever way we can...until an entire country, an entire continent hears the call. We simply do what is honorable for our own life and to bring balance and fulfillment to our own energies. Setting ourselves right with Gaia with complete detachment from the emotional toll of greater insight...we use Nature to heal us in order to heal Nature. We cannot abandon ourselves to the machine. The day of the locusts is over and the epoch of the Gaia regenerators is here.

… I recently let my union talk me into becoming the Chair of a certain ‘Government Relations Committee’ for our local chapter. Thanks to this total immersion into conventional politicking, I am convinced –now, more than ever- that I am truly wasting my time if I am not Mining the Muse, and writing my book myself, instead of playing politics with anybody whose views are less than unconventional, as are my own. I still believe in ‘getting involved,’ and staying involved, but not unless it is ‘my’ agenda –or ‘my’ perspective- which is being articulated… I can speak quite confidently for unconventional perspectives –I do not need conventional pundits to validate those perspectives for me…

… And conventional politics, and conventional politicians are not where those solutions lay. They lay with us (that would be ‘we’ minus mr. curmudgeon :-)… When I first put my treatise to paper, the Managing Editor of the most elite magazine in the world, said to me; “Do you know that what you have here has a great, to excellent chance of being very dangerous and destructive…” It might be high time to finally see if there was ever any truth to that assessment after all…

I think the ignorance machine is the intellect. By trying to fit everything into categories, it accidentally creates blindspots. The hard eyes of the intellect inherently ignore more than they can ever focuses on and thereby create massive amounts of ignorance as a toxic byproduct of the process of intellection (a fancy word for 'sorting') What can be done? 

The intellect is the executive assistant of the soul, not the CEO. Fear and longing are the chairman of the board and CEO. These two are content to send the assistant to town meetings and press conferences unaccompanied. While there, the intellect presents ideas as if they were its own, while the executives remain behind the scenes.

Lawrence if you want first hand imbibement on how to live and speak your truth I suggest doing a permaculture workshop with Andrew Faust.

When you have indeed stepped off the pyramid then those still on the pyramid may think you are in rebellion because their power tactics don't work on you anymore. However we are not on this earth to placate or console pyramid people, we are here to stake our sovereign claim for all time and show up. After all this is the only life we will ever get to live and experience. Why waste it being figments of everyone else's dream, with noone home to direct the play on our own stage. As we become an exemplar of sovereignty then those around us learn by imbibement and nobody has to uphold the pyramid anymore.

Gaian Warrior’s Trap
The prepersonal, personal, impersonal, and transpersonal levels (I, We, It) need to be balanced to uphold an honorable human life and permit evolvement. Those with transpersonal, global-dharma leanings can easily fall into the trap of negating the personal level. If we neglect actually building a personal base from which to serve the larger picture, then our entire crusade can end up being mere idealism and wishful thinking that goes nowhere. Then we end up having not really lived a human life, but having lived the abstraction of our unfulfilled worthy causes. The key is to find personal fulfillment through our global-dharma, rather than avoiding our personal life through our global-dharma. Big difference. It becomes more complicated when the visionary sage goes through a kundalini awakening…which often happens with those whose hearts are tuned to the soul of the earth. For then the baseless warrior goes into the impersonal bath having not established adequate boundaries, creature comforts and security. Then we have survival stress occurring at the same time as the dissolution of the ego and a general meltdown can result, leaving the aspirant in a state of disillusionment. Ironically it is the original “care” and “attention” that fueled our desire to do the honorable thing regarding the husbandry of the planet sets up this ill-fated journey. But that “care” and “attention” has to be similarly focused on ourselves as well in order to be sustainable. The art of being human is to live the transpersonal through the full expression of the personal. The global codependent world-saver can end up as a burden to themselves and others, and all because they were the bearers of such tremulous knowledge in a heart so pure that it was too good for this world.  So beware dear visionary the Gaian warriors trap.
