Arthur Koestler, who in effect must be one of the founders of the modern Integral Movement, has one of the best books on looking at the contextual makeup of the individual self in relation to the karma of culture at large. He said that the paranoia of the group-mind of "normal" people that is fed by the hypnotic effects of propaganda, thought-control, and belief in ones own programming cannot be overcome by counter-propaganda, no matter how rationally significant or emphatic. He says that the actual schizophysiological disposition of our present human nature must be changed. This is why rising up to our "full quid" from our present Borg condition requires an integral approach that addresses the entire human Kosmos from zeropoint, to atoms, to the omega of the human soul. He says the blind passions of group-mind need to be lifted to visionary or mystic emotions in order to organize the hierarchy of the brain so as to enhance the power of the neocortex over the lower emotion-bound levels.

"What I proposed [in Ghost in the Machine] was not the castration of emotion, but reconciling emotion and reason which through most of man's schizophrenic history have been at loggerheads." 103 Janus: A Summing Up, Arthur Koestler

Since the neocortex is a more recent evolutionary component to the hierarchy of consciousness, its sublime functioning is reliant on a healthy emotional brain and a healthy body. It is my contention that the faster than light e-motional response is the go-between the matter or form of the machine, and the spirit or ghost that runs it. Therefore a major focus at this point in our human evolution is how to heal the emotional body...in order to create a healthy relational society in which the fine tuning and harmonization of the neocortex can come about. No amount of chemically tweaking the brain will bring about the healing or evolution of human nature, if the psycho-emotional conditions of human culture remain toxic.

It is the roots, trunk, branches and heart of human consciousness that need healing in order to lend the foliage the greatest advantage of cosmic light. In this way we reinstate the natural hierarchy of being within the individual and in community. You cannot create a truly healthy individual in a culture that is at odds with universal law and unplugged from the Force of cosmogenesis. We heal the evolutionary tree of Homo sapiens by setting the individual upright on their cosmic roots and providing them with the ample soil of love with which to grow. This can only be done by creating cultural and environmental conditions in which the principle and process of Life itself is enhanced rather than thwarted at every turn and on every level.

We will only destroy ourselves and run our planet into the ground if we fail to love ourselves enough to become who we really are.

Some random thoughts:

Somehow it seems that the core impulse of evolution is reckless abandon and mutability. This follows because, by all appearances, evolution procedes from perfect unity toward diversity for its own sake.

The success of an individual depends upon their adaptation to existing environmental circumstances. Is this not the primary lesson of evolution? As an approach, the manipulation of environmental conditions to suit individual preferences is therefore the opposite process. Thus, by affecting the environment, human technological prowess has resulted in countless extinctions.

Different conditions favor different species and different individuals. That is, those best adapted to the particular circumstances will proliferate. Pribram implies that emotional reactions are the hallmarks of inner-adaptation. The cortex with it's 'rationalism' is the primary tool for avoiding blind, knee-jerk reactions to emotion.

The idea that the environment needs to change to suit our preferences is what got us into this mess in the first place and only leads us away from the path of evolution. One really big problem that I see is that the pace of environmental transformation is now so rapid that it has even overtaken the ability for humans to adapt. So now, it is those who are most quickly adaptable, instead of those best adapted, that proliferate.

When circumstances change on the ground, as they do all the time, mutablility trumps fixation.

Those species, like rats and cockroaches, that have had no part in the adaptation of the environment to suit human preferences, and yet have been best able to adapt quickly to artificial habitats, deserve special reverence as evolutionary heroes. And those humans that most resemble these types of animals are fast becoming our most prolific business and political leaders.

There is little point in stating the obvious...the vermin of what is.
Creating an environment total that is conducive to allowing the human species to be truly human...involves reinstating the natural order, using subtle technology that enhances rather than detracts from the environment and setting up our systems so they actually work for us rather than against us. There is little "maturation" involved in a human system that is undergoing perpetual collapse because it doesn't hold to universal truth and universal laws. We have to at least give ourselves and the planet a fair chance.

Not fair! I don't know anything that isn't obvious.  nope

I guess all I can do is quote smart people:

Quote
Rather than allowing only one (rational) structure to be valid, all structures are recognized, presented, one through the other. This awareness of and acceptance of the various structures enables one to live through the various structures rather than to be subjected to them ("lived by" them in German).

To realize the various structures within one's language and habits, and even within one's own life and self is a difficult task. But Gebser says that it is a task that we cannot choose to ignore without losing ourselves. This means that our so-called "objective thinking" is not without consequences, is not innocent. That to live "objectively" means to give life to the horrors of nihilism combined with the know how of highly "efficient" weapons. It means that "objectivity" gets applied to "engineering humanity" whether it is in the behavioral sciences or the physical sciences. He asks of us whether or not we have as of yet had our fill of those horrors. Are we willing to settle into the comfort of our daily life or to take on the process of change? He offers as a guiding note that just as there is also a time to act, there is also the much neglected time of contemplation. In a world where know-how is overvalued, simple knowing must also be nurtured in contemplation. Furthermore, he knew that thought was never simply a mental exercise restricted to one's writing. He calls upon us to realize that we are what we think.

It matters little what one does and thinks..what matters to other is how you feel...which depends on what one does and what one thinks. Really the ultimate service we can give to others is to de-stress ourselves. This then lowers the collective illness. Focus first on our own energy and the new world is manifest from there.

As we become sovereign we lose interest in the urge to find healing outside of ourselves. We know healing or becoming whole is an inside job, that first requires recognition of our distress and working to resolve relational disharmony, dilemmas, double binds and mixed messages. Through clarifying communication we resolve the stress that lies at the heart of our dis-ease. No amount of going from one healing modality or healer to another will point us steadily in the direction of full health, if we ourselves do not decide right here right now to be whole and live whole.

When we approach a so-called-problem from the negative perspective we either create secondary problems or we turn into that which we despise. Thus health cannot be achieved by focus on disease or distress. Wholeness is achieved by thinking, acting, experiencing and living healthy elan vital and good will. Allopathic medicine's focus on disease, which drives the trillion dollar medical industry, is the driving force of the degeneration of the human species. If medicine's job was to focus on full health and prevention of degeneration then it would be a very different world indeed. A world in which humanity was engaged in pure life enhancing motivations rather than lost in an endless maze of paradoxical intent, doublespeak, complications, contradiction, dilemmas, devil's bargains and impossible doublebinds...separations from the magnetic spiral path of the phi of consciousness that constitutes Reality and forever at odds with the universe herself.

The word “allopathic” is a synonym for “Orwellian.” Allopathy illustrates “doublespeak” perfectly: To de-fine something as the opposite of what it really is. According to www.medterms.com, allopathic medicine uses treatments which produce disease symptoms different from the symptoms of the original disease being treated. This contradicts the First Rule of the Hippocratic Oath: “Do no harm,” which is the foundation of real medicine. In reality, however, Allopathic procedures cause disease symptoms which are both different and identical to the original disease. For example, Prozac is mainly prescribed to treat depression, while the side effects of Prozac include depression. Does that make any kind of “medical” sense? ... www.erikblaire.info

Perhaps we could go so far as to say that instead of "managing" our stress, why don't we "allow" our happiness.

When we fail to be integrated beyond the general fragmentation of the species, we cannot make executive decisions from Presence, but instead find our motivations in abstract plans, compulsions, shoulds or defined by external limitations. Thus the life changing poignancy of the moment is lost in the noise of mental and emotional fictions. We live apart from life and never in it. The organic synchronicity of Life’s ultimate intelligence in the evolutionary drive itself is thus thwarted and the faint glimpse of our humanity lies beaconing in the distance…like the forbidden fruit itself.

The sovereign life is a life by design rather than by default, reaction or by the given.

To a large extent being ready for the fullness of an "embrace" of life requires the sincere exercise of our openness from the cellular level through to the soul. Everything that reduces electromagnetic flow  at the cellular level reduces it at the personality and soul level...in a downward feedback spiral to dehumanization. We are composed of the communication of opposites, and the opposites must commune in perfect phi harmony to make divine music out of our lives. The capacity is always there to fall into sync with the Universe, and when we do we become one with God………………or sovereign.

Is respecting the sovereignty of others a prerequisite to personal sovereignty, does it come after, or do they arise together?

It’s a mutual feedback of re-meme-bering what already is.
Pain and suffering arise when ever we forfeit our sovereignty or impinge on the sovereignty of others. But in a sick society that has forgotten what it is to be human we "repress" the bioenergetic repercussions of sovereign infringement. This means we spend our lives in quiet desperation without becoming cognisant of the problem, in order to make a beeline for the solution. We become a broken human in a broken culture without any real awareness as to what the problem is. Through rawfood, nature immersion, exercise and sovereignty principles and practices we become more permeable to the flow of sensoral-consciousness and the subtle permutations of the Heart. In this way we know through feeling on the scale of Love/Unity and Fear/Separation how to navigate our daily lives as a sovereign in an unsovereign cultural sphere. There is a growth curve involved in learning the science of sovereignty, but once you "get it" there is no going back. Ever increasing health, sanity and joy is the consequence of being sincerely on the sovereign path.

The Borg—Since I am writing a manual to help the human race rise out of this regression in the human principle...I tend to notice when I see Borg sign. I think this regression has occurred more so in the last 10 years in the USA due to the Bush era and the veiled boot of fascism. The Borg constitutes a more primitive "medieval" use of the brain, that is limited in scope and imagination, It can obey rules and laws, but fails to know right from wrong. Cut off from full sentience and feeling and divorced from the heart and spiritual consciousness, it is the Borg in us that is destroying the human species and the planet. In industralized man...cut off from the earth, nature and cosmos...we have forgotten how it is to be human. There is however a powerful movement back to more full brain use, tapping into right-brain feminine consciousness using the heart field, and interest in shamanism, indigenous wisdom, antediluvian culture, alternative archeology and return to a sacred science of nature.

Lack of cerebral integration equals internal conflict, which is expressed in war. Sovereignty makes war obsolete, for with the inner marriage and whole brain use our lives become limitless, and our peace omnipresent.
Desensitization
Competition from the womb to the grave
The arrogance and ignorance of the half witted
Non initiates, starving for their soul
They reap vengeance on the earth
Yet at any moment the heart’s eye can reach inward
To the ultimate nourishment of luscious embodiment
Love’s journey is an inner one
To the all consuming communion

Maturity requires initiation into unity, or holistic interconnectedness through a spontaneous shamanic hero’s journey that produces a catastrophic break with the old realm, by a sudden plunging through a threshold into deeper perception. When we have a "Eureka!" moment, not only does an answer seem to pop into our head unbidden, but our prefrontal cortex neurons shift gears just as rapidly through a sudden flash of learning. This “insight” is the main force of maturation of the prefrontal cortex, which happens through such a initiatory learning process. Consequently outer-educated, rote learned societies are not emotionally or intellectually mature, because this self-illuminating ignition of neuro circuits are forfeited in the pressure to conform to the status quo…thereby allowing the higher human faculties to all but go to sleep. Maturity requires an ongoing relationship with the spiritual flow of evolutionary consciousness or the Muse. The Muse is transcendent of both species and individual soul and thus the suppressive nature of power-over authoritarian systems forcibly prevent individuation and spiritual realization…even while pretending to enhance the human condition. In a similar way, dominant/submissive family structures undermine the cognitive, emotional and spiritual development of the children born into these systems. Hence parents actually have to be awake enough to have transcended the cultural norm in order to bring their children into a world that actually furthers the growth of their spiritual consciousness.
