Apart from the over population of the globe with presovereign individuals, the main source of our problems appears to be the commercialization and commodification of everything under the sun. The overheads for the average human life in this material society are beyond the sustainability of the individual...unless the individual is using power accumulation institutes in order to unnaturally inflate their income. We need to go back to the village system in which the overheads for a human life are 5% of the economical worth of the individual, so that there is time and money available for personal growth, creativity and dharma. As it stands most people are locked into a dysfunctional system that is going down hill, with no means or vision to get out of it. If it weren't for habits of greed and fear we would already be living in Buckminster Fuller's dream of an economy of soul, where everyone is living out their soul's true calling and maximizing their innate humanity.

http://www.wimp.com/solutionoil/  Great, I was thinking of hay in the oil spill cleanup...it could be burnt for energy. It could also be compacted into logs to make for easy transportation around the country. The burning facilities would need to have powerful scrubbers to prevent the heavy metals from getting in the atmosphere. But there are probably incinerators that burn almost 100% clean.
What the animals are going to eat next winter if the hay crop of the US goes into the sea I don't know, but if they fertilize the fields they may get a second crop of hay this year.

I really wonder now what the next thing is going to be.  In a way, this has been inevitable...It sort of feel like those moments on a canoe trip, when the map has been looked at and the territory has been unknown, and finally we arrive and we are in the middle of the rapids,  and it is what it is......and we all start to live by the skin of our teeth.....It would seem we are in the rapids, that early place where the calm placid water builds up and the there is no way out but through.... it is amazing, 13.7 billion years of travel and here we are.....
