On the lighter side

This might be required reading for certain divorcees or for those who need more leverage for things to go their way during the process.  laugh

Just yesterday at work a male nurse was talking to a group of us at a meeting. He was in divorce court and said the cases are backed up for months in this area and the waiting time to speak with the judge was unbelievable. Not only that, but the stories you hear from these married people hating each other like poison are even worse. Its peak divorce season along with one of the worse economically hit areas in the country. 4th most stressful to boot.

His reason for divorce? When asked by the judge "Why do you want a divorce?" he said  "My wife is pregnant, and its not mine...Your Honor."
They have two kids in grade school. He gets to see them...occasionally.

You know, I could tell you dozens of stories of women who have had and raised children without any support from the fathers. Actually many more than the other way round, dan, despite your firm belief to the contrary. It's still actually quite rare for a woman to leave her children, but what's so wrong with him working and raining kids, thats whats single parents do.

I'm also left sort of scratching my head to the relevance of the skin colour of the people in your stories, what on earth does that have to do with the price of fish?

"I could tell you dozens of stories of women who have had and raised children without any support from the fathers."

Sure Liz, just look at me. I'm a poster child of that very situation.  Cheesy

Mothers raising the kids, fathers with visitation rights. Fathers raising the kids...Mothers with visitation rights??? Sounds a little odd. This countries courts are notorious for favoring custody to the mothers regardless of circumstances short of abuse and neglect...which has to be documented and proven of course.

Either way, I don't give a darn one way or the other Liz. What I have shared in this thread are simply the facts. If you want to hear it straight from the horses mouth, I can bring up my own family history. I am not biased. I've seen enough and heard enough to know the street has two directions to it. Its not an issue for me.

"...the skin colour of the people in your stories, what on earth does that have to do with the price of fish?"

As far as color goes, again who cares? Why did I report it? Because those are the facts. I'm white, he's black, shes Korean, he's gay and half Japanese half American Indian etc, etc, etc. By stating these things I guess it automatically goes that I'm prejudiced? Is this what you are implying by your question? Not sure. Enlighten me. The green meme is so uptight.  Embarrassed  You want to discuss race Liz even though my description was simply incidental?

OK, There are stark cultural differences that go hand in hand with race, these are realities. And with along with those cultural differences there comes with it a huge amount of racial and cultural PRIDE. That in turn has a big impact on our society with its influences across the board both positive and negative. To deny it is really ignorant. Plus, the government keeps very close track of these things and bases employment and educational rules and regulations on being black, white, Hispanic, legal, illegal, gay, straight , trans-species and extraterrestrial. The green meme in full swing. Question is, how does the "mean green meme" play out in all this?

We have immigrants from India flooding our medical community to throw in another iron into the fire. One reason being our educational system sucks so bad its failed to produce more doctors and scientists (and money has a big part to play in that. i.e. the cost of tuition. Ask any parent now what a nightmare it is preparing their kids for college financially these days. Its hopeless without being very rich or having an excellent scholarship. not a new problem. Thomas Jefferson saw this issue over 200 years ago and founded a college that was free to the new middle class. He saw the middle class and education as one of the pillars to a free democratic society. Well now all that is a distant memory) and so we fish for "brains" from other countries.

Of course it's taboo to speak of the potential down side to all this, that would make me a racist degenerate in great need of psychotherapy. I have noticed something peculiar about it though. OK, brace yourself, this will provide some great stuff to add to your cannon when you fire back  Woo Hoo!  India is historically famous for their rigid caste system (Hindu culture...which the Buddha reportedly attempted to break down. I've been an untouchable of late myself by certain members of the Integral community for example  Kiss ). My "Spidie Senses" tells me that this class attitude has not fully disappeared with some of these folks when moving from India to over here. I must be really a bigot for saying that. This will fit right into our American way of life however since we have had an invisible caste system since Day 1 in the supposed land of equality (oh wait a minute, thats Communism and Socialism...I get confused). There are complaints beginning to emerge of how some doctors from other countries treat women sometimes...American women, any woman, nurses in particular. This stuff is deeply ingrained from childhood and comes out to play in this "clash of cultures".
A social worker I know even had to report a certain "ethnic' Doctor for treating certain female patients like crap. But, the medical community tolerates it because they need them.  Beats me Plus, they're Doctors for God sake! They have special privilages, anyone else...forget it!

I also know many beautiful, humble, intelligent and spiritually aware people from India as well. And so in all of this please keep in mind no one is to be stereotyped no matter what country, religion, race, culture, etc. I am referencing some observations that might not be fullytrue, or highly relative to the observer and observed. Is it the person? Is it the culture? Are they to blame? Am I to blame? Who knows. It's always a dicey thing to discuss and 100% of the time it seems there are misunderstandings.

It reminds me also of the SO worn out garbage that just keeps coming up again and again. The double standards staring us in the face. For example, this whole stink recently of why its OK for blacks to call each other "nigger", but whites aren't allowed to (of course I have absolutely no interest in using the term). It gets so ridiculous. I am burned out over this childish racial ethnic sub-cultural nonsense.  Purge

Yeah, he was a black nurse and she was a Philippine. Miami happens to be a huge mass of ethnic minorities and when I moved from Peoria to Miami I learned fast and the hard way what real hate and prejudice was. And it didn't come from me I'm tellin' ya...

The first nurse who oriented me when I graduated nursing school who was a black woman (can I say that?) complained that I was white. The Philippine nurses I worked with for years literally hijacked the ICU I worked in and consistently took the "cream" of the labor situation and passed off the "undesirable" assignments to me...for years. (the floor was 90% Asian nurses). They took care of each other and stone walled non-Filipinos. Yep, my career was really going places. But hey, they're minorities and ethnic, we mustn't complain. Look how I stepped all over them after all, can you blame them?

It's really off the mark here from Divorce, but you insisted to bring it up.

I married a Hispanic, a minority who couldn't even speak English 18 years ago. That makes my children half Hispanic. That means they will qualify for a minority grant to college. They will actually have an advantage over 100% white kids because they are a minority by government definition. The U.S. government keeps a head count on this stuff and the dice are loaded in my children's favor. That's fair, right? Wouldn't want those 100% white kids having an advantage. By having minority status my kids will have an advantage in this educational system, and in the employment industry. That's not a bias, or prejudice...it's a demographic and regulatory fact.

You've heard of the gold standard? You could say this is the golden double standard.

America is its own worst nightmare. Evil

Without vision there are no morals or higher values...because the visionary function of the prefrontal lobe is non other than the scales of right and wrong. Follower/Leader authoritarian systems that prevent the development of the prefrontal cortex and that fail to see the individual as the conduit of their own personal connection to God...lead to a society in which the people are controlled by habits, rules and laws. Justice is the cellular response to truth that respects the Lifeforce's desire for continuity and expansion...this is the moral imperative that drives vision. It is vision that gives our lives meaning, substance and purpose...without which all we have are learned programs of a predominantly socially conditioned being with little self-will or Self realization. And it is self-will, Self realization and vision that are the defining aspects of being truly human, rather than an animal or a biological robot.
