Has everyone here had a flying dream? Was it in your adolescence? It was my understanding that flying dreams are fairly common in puberty and less common in adulthood. Anyways...

I had a dream, kind of a flying dream, except that I levitate more than fly. It's a reoccurring dream. Levitating isn't easy, not even in my dreams, it takes practice. I think that I've been "practicing"/dreaming this for about 15 years now. It takes short, choppy, yet deep breaths while the hands flap near the hips. The quicker and harder this is preformed, the more buoyant I become. It reminds me of some old video games wherein one must tap a button to elevate, the quicker one taps, the faster and higher one rises. A joystick is used in conjunction to control direction.

What made this dream a bit more significant than previous is that I have gained a greater degree of competence and leaning provides directional control. I was flying quite well and had somewhere to go, a mission to attempt. I tried to teach the others with me so that they might join me on the journey.

Ya'll can spare me the Freudian analysis (unless you desire the practice), I'm perfectly capable of that myself. I wonder if my previous video-gaming and exposure to accounts and footage of the TM community's "levitation" (they looked more like they were hopping on knees and thighs than levitating) is part of the basis of my dreams and whether any of you have had similar dreams.

Marshall,

Was it like this? Great seeing you again! Bear with me. I'm coming back with some replys on your posts. What was your altitude in your dream? If you were flying then it must have been Indigo !  Wink

i used to have many flying dreams when younger.  some were about flying and others i flew just as a part of the dream "plot".  it's interesting that i could see that perspective since i've never been in a plane or anything.  after quite a few flying episodes i had one where i retaught myself to fly.  it was like a swimming motion till airborne then more of a soaring experience. flying in the clouds, the exhilaration of controlled falling.  havn't had one in years tho, i guess i outgrew the need for them.  i'm almost always aware that i'm dreaming when i dream... sounds like you are too when teaching yourself to levitate.

I used to be into the lucid dreaming thing and had a stretch of years when I was almost always aware that I was dreaming. I was never very successful at consciously altering the content of the dreams though. The more conscious effort that I tried to exert, the more it would pull me out of the dream state, so I gave up on it. This last six or so months I have regressed, dove into the deep red (meme) scene. May it be in the service of transcendence. Too much debauchery and alcohol has eroded my more conscious awareness within my less conscious sleep states. My living conditions likely play into it, I reside with a hard-partying late-night crew of five or so others....

After all you have been through, a bit of fun won't do you any great harm.
Nothing wrong with a bit of partying.

I don't think I have ever had a lucid dream in my life, I rarely remember dreamd at all. I think I just like sleep :-)
