I spent the most beautiful day at Esalen around New Year's this year.  It is awesome to hold that beautiful aspect of the world, on the 1, in a corner in my mind.....and be able to go there for a spell.  I am weary of the grinding metabolic drive of this present society, yet I assume that somebody is getting off on it.  Wouldn't it be amazing to sit in the Esalen pools with Queen Elizabeth or George Bush or Sarah Palin or the Dali Lama?....just sit, and soak, and listen to the surf crashing in below, the odd cry from a seagull......a little though about maybe having a massage, or getting up in while to have some lovely bean soup for lunch, hang out in the Art Barn and make a stained glass something.

For the most part collectively, we have ourselves so confused with our personalities and our bodies, and then have such ridiculous dramas built up around this confusion, we are missing the whole deal where really, all there is, are perspectives that can be inhabited.....perspectives that we have to move our sensing apparatuses around in order to experience and decipher, and then do our best to get out of our own way to let the perspective be  received.

I wonder how many of us on the Heartmind have sat on the very same bench in the very same spot in the far pool in Esalen getting steamed and bubbled and effervesced, or been under the same shower head over looking the ocean there, soapy and sun-filled.... I tell ya, if it weren't for time stretching out this flow, we would be infused in each other, molecularly mixed....we'd all be "walking down the same street, on the very same day"!

Jane, it sounds like you were there on a beautiful day, and there are no words for that. i envy your experience of the newly re-constructed baths. Did you know that Esalen and Findhorn have a decades long kinship exchange history? The past couple days have brought up alot of esalen emotion for me. Maybe i can make it to Michael Murphy's 85th Birthday celebration if my travel therapy is successful Huh?.....god bless all

A fine wikipedia entry on my hero/teacher Dick Price twenty-five years after his passing in what would be his 80th year bow. A juicy tidbit is that he was jane fonda's boyfriend before Barbarella and Tom Hayden Tongue. ...still working on the link thingy Huh?

time for my annual diatribe delineating the distinction between Integral and "integral theory" boxing. Follow the trail from Emerson, Aurobindo, Gebser, Chaudhuri/Spiegelberg(CIIS), Murphy and Price(esalen), Murphy and Leonard(ITP)(esalen ctr), Spangler/Findhorn(Lorian), WI Thompson(Lindisfarne).......OR, maybe you'll get celebrity lucky in Ken's Loft Woo Hoo!

Actually it starts out in prehistory Egypt with the Kabbalah, then adopted and expanded by the Jews, then from Max Theon to The Mother and then to Aurobindo. take a bow

following up from yesterday, Heartminders curious about a genuine intellectual approach to Integral can check out the Lindisfarne(association) Fellows beer. Lindisfarne(1972) fellows still meet once a year at Upaya, and have collectively made a huge impact bow. Also of possible interest to those of you whose brains still function is esalen center for theory and research....i'm counting kisses  Kiss...enrique

Adding to the discussion, I got feedback from a female artist of mine about Alex Grey's art work when I loaned her 'Sacred Mirrors'. She said that it was a "mans" art, or "male" art and that it was "dark". It was not a female's art form.

I am loving watching Brian Swimme's lecture series called the Earth's Imagination.... It is captivating and so clear about this adventure.  I am also reading a book right now on complexity called Getting to Maybe.
In my regular life, I have begun the  steps of forming the River Traders Community Co-operative, with the intention of buying the old abandoned hospital here in North West River and having set of synergistic eco-businesses including the Raw and Wild Cafe...... and I am heading out to Comox to study herbology for two months at the Innisfree Farm.... well, after the yearly canoe trip...that is about all the integral I can manage for now.
I am off into my garden to gather up some supper.... and the sun is out!
Hope all is well with every one. xo Jane

Thanks Henry, no I hadn't noticed(thanks Michael).nor had I read that piece in Will's blog. I have been travelling and only got home this morning. My recollection is it was less the posing of "awesome integral women" and much more "oh my God, how good is it that we are all in the same room?"
I have some great pics too, I'll try to get them on FB over the weekend. I think some of what I have may have already been posted by others though, there were several cameras around.

Boulder seems like such a long time ago, it was just so good to be in the same room with Leela, Mary and Liz again. Also great to meet so many online acquaintances from over the years in person. Nomali , Arthur, Pelle, Bruce, Gina, Stacy, Patrick, Om......so hanging with my peeps and trying not to be intimidated by all the folk doing presentations. The whole thing was just a joy, but it is very intense. There really isn't the time to sit and talk properly with all the people you would want to. Next time it would be good to plan some down time afterwards with friends, away from the venue for a few days.

Oh and I got down US Highway 1 as far as Carmel, henry........next time I might make it as far as Esalen!
